Anyone notice anything different about this week’s winner’s photo? A little blurry? A little out of focus? Lighting could be better? This is what happens when the camera gets into the wrong guy’s hands. Shawn, you’re killing this guy with your photog skills. How is he supposed to show off his photo on the Dept. site with it looking like this? Oh by the way, this is Kenny Macambe sp? Kenny, is this your last name? As you can see, Shawn’s handwriting skills need as much help as his photos. Garric, let’s keep this tight. Congratulations on the Tom Penny deck Kenny!!
David Gonzales from Colombia was the winner of the demo Friday night. Good for him. He gets a Flip deck now. Hopefully you made it out to the demo Friday because preliminary reports have it ranked as one of the all-time greats. We’ll have more photos and some footage up soon to check out in case you missed it.
Andy sent over this little gem that they have up on the Tribute website. This should be what they had in mind when they designed that obstacle.
Danny Uyematsu held the winning #s this week and came up on a Mark Appleyard deck at Flip Friday Night. Next Friday, Nov. 16th will be the ultimate Flip Friday Night as The Dept. will be hosting the Feast Tour and will have the entire Flip team on hand live and in person. It’s still not 100% sure, but Danny may be called in as a backup skater in case Appleyard isn’t skating good that night. Make sure you’re ready Danny. Congratulations Danny!!
Tweaker Zine is a sick little on-line magazine we stumbled across. Lots of good stuff including Nike SB interviews and a great little article about the best skater/song matchups for video parts… now go waste your life away on the internet.
The hits keep on coming. We’re doing this for an entire year people. Dakota McElheney is the latest beneficiary of a Geoff Rowley Pro Model courtesy of Flip Friday Night. And he didn’t have to cross over to the dark side to get it. 11 days and counting until the Flip Feast Tour hits The Dept. and we’re banking on Dakota being there.
When you’re enrolled in fake online high school, this is the closest thing to school pictures your mom can hope for. That smile is definitely genuine. If you ever get a chance, ask LaShawn about his fake online school diploma. He can show it to you. It’s one of those diplomas that you carry around IN YOUR WALLET? Fully accredited?
(we’re only joking, Tyboe actually does his school work.)
Yeah Daniel!! The Flip Friday Night big winner was none other than Daniel Guillen. Stoked man. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night. If you want to get in on this and try and come up on a new Flip Pro Model make sure to come skate Friday nights. Hey Daniel, be careful. All Tom Penny boards contain trace amounts of his magic…
Tyboe left to go down and skate the Damn Am contest this weekend. He’s staying with PQuist and putting his faith in Nick to get him the 10 minute drive away to the contest. That means there’s a pretty good chance that neither of those guys actually make it to the contest. Let’s hope Tyler doesn’t skate it on his Zip Zinger.
At long last, 2 more people came through with the correct answers for the $lave deck hookup. This contest ended up being a little tougher than expected. You definitely had to do some research, especially if you’re under 25 years old. The final answers were: Invisible, Zero, Legacy, Black Label, and Slave. Matt rode for a company called Shaft as well but never had a board out. Congratulations go out to Alex and Colin on winning their decks. Stay tuned for the next contest…
Andrew Perez was the second winner to leave with a new Flip Arto Saari after skating Flip Friday Night last Friday. Back to back East County winners? Is there something you’d like to admit to Andrew? Anyway, congratulations. See everyone next Friday Night.
(side note: No brownie points were awarded for wearing that tee shirt. The drawing is completely random.)
Winner #2 in the $lave Deck Hook-Up contest has finally emerged. Justin W. comes through with the correct answers and earns himself a Matt Mumford Deck. We still have 2 decks to give away. Everyone that has attempted and got the “Try Again” response needs to keep working.
