Copenhagen Pro went down again over the weekend and Matt once again proved that if there’s a contest going on, he’s a contender. Here’s some clips of the finals and best trick, both won by T Puds.

Red Bull is bringing their Manny Mania Am Contest Tour to Portland this week for events this Thursday June 25th and Friday June 26th. The event Thursday will be here at The Dept. and is an open invitational manual contest. Skaters will be competing for a very limited # of slots for the invitation only main event Friday at Pioneer Courthouse Square. The Thursday contest will be starting at 4PM so show up a little early if you’re planning to enter. ALSO, IF YOU’RE UNDER 18 YOU NEED TO HAVE A PARENT/GUARDIAN SIGN A LIABILITY RELEASE WAIVER. WITHOUT A WAIVER SIGNED YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SKATE!! HAVE MOM OR DAD DROP YOU OFF OR EVEN BETTER STAY AND CHEER YOU ON!

Finals Practice :: 3:50-4:30pm
Finals :: 4:30-5:00pm
Awards :: 5:15pm

*Each heat will get 10 minutes of practice and 20 minutes of competition. There will be 6 skateboarders per heat, 1 advances to the finals.

Following the Finals Friday night will be the Burnside Mixed Mania Art Show at Nemo Design.

The Art Show will run 7-11 PM
Nemo is located at 1875 SE Belmont.

There should be some sort of rule that former neighbors of empty swimming pools shouldn’t get threatened with arrest. B. Mohr used to live right down the street from this PDX pool that’s been catching a little heat lately. Rock N. Roller. Yeah Ben!!

Alright, Listen Up!! This is serious and stuff. A few months ago, fellow skateboard brother Taylor Appelo was the victim of a brutal assault and beating at a MAX stop in Portland. You may have seen it on the news. Taylor is the brother of a real good friend of The Dept. Devin Appelo. Taylor had some very serious injuries from this attack and unfortunately was left with some monster medical bills due to being uninsured. Devin and Willis hit us up to host a benefit bowl contest and it’s going down this Saturday June 13th. Here’s where you come in. The whole point of this contest is to raise some cash. This is no time to be a tightwad. There is going to be some unbelievable bowl shredding going down and you need to either be a part of it or see it firsthand. There is going to be a $20 entry fee to enter the contest. That gets you entry and 2 raffle tickets for a serious product raffle that includes goods from all of the companies listed on the flier, as well as some that aren’t. Chances are you’re leaving with something. Also, there will be a $5 donation fee to get into the bowl room to check the contest. This gets you in as well as gets you a raffle ticket for some loot. We know times are tough but chances are you’ve got $5 you can scrounge up that will benefit Taylor a lot more than just getting you a few more bean burritos or PBRs.. Again, every cent of this $ is going to help out a guy that was in the wrong place at the wrong time and could’ve been any one of us. Make it a point to come down to The Dept. this Saturday and get involved!!

Here’s some clips from the Hometown Heroes contest that went down last Monday. Some definite bangers for sure. Somebody must’ve told Gabe that the prize for First Place was your weight in burritos because he definitely had the eye of the tiger. The Dept. will be premiering the new video “Debacle” from Nike SB on Friday June 12th @ 8PM. This vid focuses on the ams and includes full parts from Justin Brock, Daryl Angel, Shane O’Neill, David Clark and the complete annihilator that is Grant Taylor. The whole thing was shot in HD and features some handiwork of The Dept.’s own Tyler Brown. Nike SB always hooks it up proper so make sure to check this premiere.

The Monday night 30 and over session is on hiatus until fall. The Tuesday night girls-ride-free session will now be the Tuesday 3:30-6:30 session.

Jo Jackson, Andy Jenkins, Chris Johanson, Jason Lee, Chris Pastras, Clint Peterson, Russ Pope, Roger Seliner and Tobin Yelland are the inaugural participants in the 1st annual North County Invitational at Cal’s Pharmacy. The opening is June 5th from 7 to 10 pm with music provided by Chris Johanson.
The competition in this year’s field looks pretty stiff, and it’s anyone’s guess who will emerge victorious and capture first place in art. Make sure to come by and cheer on your favorite competitor. Big thanks to the fine folks at Stereo Skateboards and Nike SB for their great support…

Last weekend there was a contest at the Extreme Sports Show at the Convention Center. $2500 in prize money was up for grabs and most of the real rippers around showed. They had three separate obstacle divisions to compete in and while the setups rivaled the demo at Chuck’s Skate Barn, Marshall Parks came correct with his custom double set section. Nice work MP.
